Prosthetic legs allow dog to walk again after losing limbs in sword attack

An animal shelter in Thailand has fitted a dog with prosthetic legs after its front limbs were hacked off in a sword attack

A dog whose front legs were hacked off in a sword attack in Thailand is able to walk again, after being fitted with prosthetic limbs.Cola the dog was attacked by a neighbour for chewing a pair of shoes when he was about nine months old, according to Thai animal shelter Soi Dog Foundation. He was taken to a specialist clinic in Bangkok and Soi Dog covered his medical costs. Cola’s owner then surrendered him to the shelter due to fears that he would be in danger at home. Soi Dog co-founder Gill – who herself uses prosthetics after losing both legs in 2004 – then collected Cola, and he has since been given custom-made prosthetics.A video of Cola being fitted with the new limbs shared on the shelter's Facebook page has been viewed more than six million times since it was shared last week.Cola now lives with Gill and her husband John and reportedly enjoys walks on the beach. His attacker was charged and jailed for one month under the Animal Welfare Act – a sentence which Soi Dog has branded "incredibly lenient".
